jackie’s Photography and Business Journey

I received a BFA in photography from the University of Michigan, and worked at a non-profit art center. After years of working and growing in the gallery and education programs, I was ready for the next step. I moved to San Francisco, CA, and received my MFA in photography, where I learned the importance of concept in my work and started building my business network. Consultations with international fashion photographer and celebrity portraitist Amedeo Turello, the beauty, fashion, advertising, celebrity and fine art nude photographer George Holz and a local award–winning creative consultant SPARKED my future in the photography business.

After graduation and a small stint as a cocktail waitress, my brand and creative baby jANK AKA jANKzine was born. I became the studio and production manager for a food and product photographer, guiding photography projects from concept through execution on set and remotely. Some of the many hats I wore consisted of cross–functional team leadership and management, developing and negotiating estimates for each project, coordinating and maintaining target budgets and hospitality, relations and data management for domestic and international clients. Including but not limited to Method Products, Taco Bell and Tim Hortons. Oh ! and Coca-Cola when I facilitated production and travel to Mexico City.

It was time to educate on another part of the photography industry. Artist Management ! As a booking agent, I was responsible for assisting with bookings of artists and assistants on photography + video projects, managing contracts and communication between artists and clients for quality production, deliverables management, updating artist portfolios, coordinating multiple social media accounts, website and blog management and strategizing artist development and presentation.

Now we’re here, and I’M DRIVEN TO REPRESENT THE CREATIVES !
